In short
Without Tracksys, Assist shows the vehicle's position based on the driver's phone – Assist assumes the vehicle is wherever the phone is, as long as the driver is logged in on an assignment with that vehicle selected. With the Tracksys integration, this is overridden: the map instead shows the actual GPS position of the tracker mounted in the vehicle itself, independent of the phone and the assignment.
What do you get, specifically?
A position you can actually trust. The map shows where the vehicle physically is – not where the driver's phone is, or which vehicle was selected at the start of the shift. If the vehicle is swapped mid-shift, or the driver forgets to change vehicle in Assist, the map still shows it correctly.
See the nearest available vehicle – not just those on an assignment. Without Tracksys, you only see the position of vehicles with a driver actively logged in on an assignment. With Tracksys, you see all tracker-equipped vehicles, including idle ones, so you can dispatch the nearest available vehicle to the next assignment.
More than just vehicles. You can also connect other Tracksys trackers – trailers, equipment, tools – and see them on the same map.
Color-coded status on the map. Vehicles with a Tracksys tracker show status based on driver and active assignment, so you can quickly see who is available and who is busy.
Less coordination and duplicate work. Fewer phone calls to check "where are you right now", and fewer assignments left waiting because no one knew which vehicle was free.

Frequently asked questions
Does Assist track the vehicle automatically, or does the driver still have to select a vehicle?
The driver still has to check in "on duty" and select the correct vehicle in Assist at the start of the shift – this drives route calculation (road restrictions, tolls/ferries for that specific vehicle) and logging in Assist. With the Tracksys integration, however, the position you see on the map no longer depends on this selection: it comes from the tracker in the vehicle, not from the driver's phone.
What if the map shows the wrong vehicle or the wrong status, even with Tracksys connected?
First check that the vehicle in question is actually linked to the correct tracker in the vehicle register under Settings → Integrations → Tracksys – a missing or incorrect link is a common cause of discrepancies, and when that happens Assist falls back to position based on the driver's phone/selection.
Can we opt out of the integration if we are not using it?
Yes, this is an add-on integration you can opt out of. See our terms. We recommend testing it for a period and taking a short walkthrough with support first, so your routines are set up correctly from the start.
Price
The Tracksys integration costs 1,000 NOK to set up and 950 NOK/month. See the full overview at assist-it.no/pricing.
